Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich reacted this morning to Colin Powell's endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., arguing, "What that just did in one sound bite... is it eliminated the experience argument."
Powell, the former secretary of state, announced his long-awaited endorsement Sunday morning, explaining that he is backing Obama "because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of this campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities we have to take that into account as well as his substance he has both style and substance he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president."
In all-star roundtable edition of "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," former presidential adviser David Gergen categorized Powell's announcement as "the most important endorsement of the campaign so far."

newt’s off his meds
LOL, Newt is still trying to appear relevant.
What? It had nothing to do with the experience argument but everything to do with the racist argument. Newt is full of crap as usual.
Newt, just shut up.
“What that just did in one sound bite... is it eliminated the experience argument.”

Shut up, Newt. Oh, and thanks for the help.
It absolutely did not eliminate the “experience argument”.
Sometimes, Gingrich just likes to hear himself opine.
What happens when America rejects the NYCDC Party’s ticket and goes with the only ticket with a Governor on it, from about as far away from that sh!thole as one can get in these United States? I mean, seriously. What happens when the peons rebel and tell NYCDC to go F itself?

I think that Castro’s 2 endorsements carry more weight. I actually respect him more - you know what he’s all about right off the top.
Yep, he's included everyone except for middle-class Christians who "bitterly cling to their guns and their religion."
Gingrich is an idiot if he thinks this was anything other than racially motivated. Powell was afraid fo being called an "Uncle Tom."
Newt is a smart guy, I’ll give him that much, however the Experience Argument still stands, merely because Powell endorsed Obamao does not dispell doubts, in fact most endorsements are met with a shrug.
Liberals love it though, but their minds are already made up.
Isn’t he saying that since he (Powell) says that BO has experience to be President, then CERTAINLY Sarah Palin has. They can never again say that Sarah doesn’t have enough experience.
It actually may backfire, I was over at a few lefty-nut sites, they were rabid anti-war and saw Powell as an opportunist — Since they remember full well Powell was a big supporter of going into Iraq.
You have to get out of the FR bubble sometimes to look at the larger picture.
The Powell endorsement is a big win for the Obama side, in the minds of the American public. It will be stoked for everything it is worth by the liberal MSM.
I think that is what Gingrich is saying; not the discounting of Powell that occurs here on FR (which I agree with of course) but with which the average Joe in America could not care less about.
Brilliant tactics by the enemy to cover one of their weak bases.
GOP can counter that they may have a former Secretary of State from the GOP, but GOP has a former VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE from the Democrats. And Sarah Palin has John Bolton. You can spin some replies on this, but much of it I am afraid will not be that effective.
Newt also had a “thrill up his leg” when he met Clinton, didn’t he?
I love Newt, but from time to time he says these things to counter balance his hard stance on all the issues. It is too fuzzy and warm for me, I like it when Newt is spitting fire.
It’s the Marxism, “stupid.”
Get these two documents out by email to everyone you know of. Plus, print them up, photocopy at the office supply store, then take one or both of them door-to-door to everyone in your neighborhood — even if they have an Obama sign up.

I don't believe for one second that Powell would have endorsed a white liberal with Obama's government resume.
Yes, I said it.
And I think that a lot of Americans know it too.
