Honestly you overestimate the power of elected officials to permanently effect change--over to even make change. When the GOP controlled everything we still had a heck of a time getting our way. Don't let irrational gloom and doom force you into inaction. That is what such talk is design to do. It is designed to overwhelm you, to keep you for pushing for incremental change, to have you toss up your hands and give up altogether. I am not defeatist like that.

WE need to band together and do a better job at selling our message. Make our issues dinner table fodder. defend America. defend the family. defend the military. defend business, and independence. Joe the Plumber did this in five minutes. Imagine if we had 1000 Joe the Plumbers in every town, at every rally doing the same? where is Barr? is he even polling in .005% of the electorate?

take your strong idealism to 2010, and elect a Libertarian in the next primary. what the hell is the point in siding with a candidate that will garner 500,000 votes. all you're doing is making a tiny statement that's meaningless to this great country.

In 1965 America inaugurated LBJ and a Congress with two thirds 'rat majorities in each house. The result was the "Great Society," an obscene power grab which failed in all its stated goals; but now, six or seven trillion dollars later, we're still paying the price for it.

Don't ever underestimate the damage that can be done by a gang of grim, determined political radicals with police power and the power of the purse in their hands.
