Absolutely right. Anyone who thinks its important to make a “protest” vote for 3rd party or just sit it out, can blame themselves when the brownshirts come beating on their door.Nope, sorry. This was exactly the same logic that led to 8 years of Bush. The Democratic Party was darn near dead at the start of the Bush presidency. It was those 8 years of Bush that put us exactly where we are now, with the liberals about to seize power and the country about to make an unprecedented swing to the left.
Until the Republicans can nominate a literate, well-spoken, intelligent, Reagan-style conservative, I'm not voting for them. McCain is by any objective definition, not a conservative. If he gets in, he's going to be branded a far right wing extremist by the media, while governing like a center-left Democrat.
