Conversations with an internal pollster for Obama...
RedState ^

Posted on 10/18/2008 8:50:02 AM PDT by PaRep

I have an interesting story to relay that took place earlier this week between my boss (a senior VP in the company I work for) and one of the Obama campaigns' internal pollsters.

Just to note, my boss is a republican and was meeting the Obama rep over lunch for other reasons. Politics obviously came up due to his line of work.

He asked my boss what her political leanings were and they did some chit chat around the issues and the impressions each had on the state of the race. What happened next was more than fascinating and should be a reminder to all of us to buck up and remain strong. All is not lost. In fact, we may be in a much better spot than we think - despite the national polls and what the daily media drumbeat to give up.

Welcome to FR. I think we’ve just added Joe the Plumber to that Palin effect!

Yes. That is exactly right.

Moreover, it is why Obama has never had a chance in this election since she was chosen.

We are being treated to this super severe you’re a stupid racist routine from the Media just to save his pathetic campaign.

The polls are jacked but they have to bring them back in line to save themselves for the next election.

I’d be interested in whether the Obama pollster was a state or national pollster and when he began to see the effect that Sarah was having on ‘groups not normally associated with politics’.

It just goes to show that Obama can’t close the sale

When it comes time to vote people are going to vote for democracy vs. socialism

Most of the polls are so heavily weighted towards the democrats as to be rediculous. They are push polls IMHO in many cases.

Then there is the matter of the corss overs in the primaries that are skewing things as well.

The real picture, IMHO, is what is happening on the ground and it tells an entirely different story from which we can take great hope.

I totally agree with this. I believe that Obama and his people are very nervous. They know that there is a huge silent majority out there that they will never convince to vote for them and they don’t like it. Obama made a big mistake when he not only answered Joe the Plumber the wrong way with “Share the wealth”, but he went out to destroy this American citizen. He could loose this race on this one issue alone.

Welcome to FR. After reading the article, most of it is not "new" Palin was selected for the very fact that you state in the diary entry. She can energize the common man/woman because she appeals to them. Obie should be worried, due to the fact that IMO he was counting on ACORN to offset the PUMA defection and didn't think the unknowns would show up. He will also draw the youth vote but not in the margins he thinks, so it worries them.

I'm glad what you posted is out here to be read, again, but even you know that the Palin effect was planned by the McCain team long ago. After factoring in the 10% favorability of the congress, we are seeing the OZ factor and not the real man behind the curtain. I do not believe the the country is ready for a socialist, but if they wake up Nov. 5th, its going to be like a bad one night stand, and instead of waiting 9 months to see what the outcome will be, it'll be 2-4 years.

Again, welcome to FR, jump in and keep posting links to the sites you visit.

Very interesting that the same exact story was posted here a couple of days ago by a different poster.

Polls are ALWAYS slanted to the left. Always. When was the last presidential election where you remember that the Republican candidate lead regularly? Yet, how many Democrats have been in the White house over the past 40 years?

If it’s ‘close’, then we’re ahead.

Thanks for the encouraging post! The closer we get to the election, the more nervous the RATS are becoming. The media is in a panic because they know their Onederboy can’t quite close the deal with the average JOEs.

Welcome to FR!!

There was a similar “I spoke with an Obama pollster” thread earlier this week.

Sounds great and makes you feel good. IMO, its close to being an urban legend.

Most of the McCain/Palin problem is McCain—he is a very flawed candidate, but still preferable to Senator Government. Why he focuses on Ayers instead of Wright is beyond me. Also, if he had opposed the bailout, he would have been way ahead. When he comes out to the left of Obama in terms of letting deadbeats stay in their homes, he dispirits his base big time.

If it weren’t for Sarah’s convention speech, he’d be down by 20 at this point.

I do hope this is right. The media has worked overtime to try to destroy her, and now they have zero’d in on Joe the plumber. I don’t even want to think what will happen to our right to speak out if Obama wins. No more conservative blogs, talk shows, letters to the editor, etc.

I love to hear this, but I am suspicious of third-hand stories.

I do agree that the middle is not sold on Obama yet. Two campaign ads that MUST be done in the next two weeks:

1) Not Joe the Plumber, but Obama’s own words about “spreading around the wealth”. A summary line that says, “a gov’t big enough to give you something is big enough to take it away.”

2) A simple picture of Obama and a narrator asking:
Do you know this man? Do you really know him?
Do you know any significant piece of legislation sponsored by him?
Do you know any of his significant life experiences that help him make important decisions?
Do you know any leadership position he has held in his life?
Do you know what type of people he surrounds himself with and will probably pick for his cabinet?
Do you know this man? Do you really?
