McCain calls Joe the Plumber, invites him on the trail

MELBOURNE, Florida (CNN)- At a rally in Melbourne, Florida Friday evening, Senator McCain revealed he had called Joe Wurzelbacher.

“I talked to him this morning for the first time ever,” said McCain. “And I want to tell you his sprits are good and he’s a tough guy. He is what small business people all over this country are all about. They are tough and they are good and they want to get ahead and they want to keep their money.” McCain did apologize to the Ohio resident for thrusting him into the media spotlight on the night of the debate according to McCain press secretary Brooke Buchanan.

The night before he called, he appealed to Joe on CBS's “Late Night with David Letterman.” “Joe, if you’re watching, I’m sorry,” he said into the camera.

Buchanan did say that the Arizona Senator invited Ohio’s most famous voter to meet up with the campaign but did not set up any specific stops.

McCain has a rally in that state on Sunday but Buchanan said she didn’t know whether Murzelbacher would appear.

When asked why he called Joe, Buchanan said, “I think he just wanted to reach out to him.”

Whether Joe is there in person or not, he is certainly a star at McCain events. McCain urged others at the rally to contact Joe and share their support. “Send Joe an email and tell him you are with him, ok,” said McCain.

And the crowd definitely seemed to be full of Joe supporters as well as John supporters, with people at the Melbourne rally were wearing tee shirts with a picture of a name tag on them that said, “My name is … Joe the Plumber” and holding signs about Joe like one on stage that said, “Joe’s dough, not Obama’s.”

McCain needs to purchase his one half hour of TV time.

He should call it An Evening with Joe.

In it, let Joe explain in simple, everyman terms, what the Obama economic plan would do to small businesses and jobs.

Let him put a face to those that Obama calls the evil rich who need to spread their wealth around.

It’s not the fat cats who line Obama’s pockets and campaign coffers who will suffer. It’s the Joes of the world, the guy with a dream.

Let Joe explain how Obama is bringing down the weight of the media and the government on him for merely asking a question.

Then let McCain and Sarah close it out on a PATRIOTIC NOTE. Do it AFTER Obama’s Depression Anniversary speech.

Shows the absolute desperation in the libs camp. They are willing to get down in the lowest depths of the gutter to smear this innocent man because he dared to point out that The Messiah has no clothes.

For a fun time, google “spread wealth socialism” on the web.

Clearly, Obama’s gaffe (definition: when a politician accidentally reveals what he really thinks) is penetrating into the public debate. People get it.

We can be America or we can be France.

Does the left REALLY want to make an issue of people’s MIDDLE NAMES?

I think it was the NY Post that had the headline “the plumber is all wet!” because they discovered some of his problems. Big whoop. I’m not the first to say it but isn’t it interesting the “news” media have managed to find out every little detail of his life while 0bama remains a big zero??

McCain and Palin really can score points by hammering on 0bama and Biden’s derisive mocking of Sam-Joe. His taxes will go down under 0bama? Fine. I hope mine do to. But what incentive is there for Joe or people like him to want to achieve more, and make more $$ when big 0bama government is just going to seize it?

Note to Republicans: every time someone uses the word “rich”, we should say, “oh, you mean our nation’s EMPLOYERS-the ones who sign all the checks?” We must not miss an opportunity to rescue the word “rich” from the pejorative status it now occupies.

This should be shouted from the mountaintops.

No wonder the Rats are out to destroy Joe. But we have his back!

There is no way for them to counter the piercing effect of their candidate saying he wants to “spread the wealth.” And he even prefaced it by saying, “I don’t want to punish you,” which, of course, comes off at the least as demonstrating that he knows he is TAKING JOE’s/OUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.

Freep the Obama rallies with plungers! Encourage the rope lines at McCain rallies with plungers!

"In my mind, it's stirring how the Lord can take the least of things and raise them in this way. It's no accident. It's providence."

Very good discernment! Kudos! "Providential Hand Still Moves on behalf of America" bump!

That’ll be good for the economy!

...but devastating for the plumbing industry.

...apparantly not. They whine and complain when people use BO’s middle name-—HUSSEIN!

McCain is doing more.

But since the Joe the Plumber message is resonating, it’s important to maximize that. And we help by keeping it out there.

Huckabee said on Wed. night that he had booked Joe for tonight’s show.

The Obama campaign is just nuts to go after this guy so hard. The best thing they could do was just to ignore him and it would have been a one-two day story. Their virulent attacks on Joe for doing nothing but asking a good policy question is like turning over the log in the woods. It’s exposing all the nasty, slimy stuff underneath the polished facade. That’s what’s scary about this. The same thing happening to Joe could have happened to any one of us who would dare to ask a queestion of the messiah.

What would be great if he would have several “Joe’s” on, all hammering this point home.

His name is Samuel JOSEPH.....I know several people that go by their middle names, don’t you? And he doesn’t NEED a license until he BUYS the company.

Didn't Barack's own mother go by her middle name? Her legal name is Stanley Ann Dunham/Obama/Soetro. She went by Ann.

It is FRIGHTENING what has happened to Joe the Plumber.....

Yes, it is and I hope McCain can talk him into making some appearances to tell his story of what he's been put through simply because he asked a question of Obammy. Clearly, the MSM and the Obammy spokesmen are trying to literally destroy this guy. How Clintonesque. I can't imagine anything better to expose the MSM and DemocRat tactics....
