McCain does not want or need an Endorsement from Colin.

You gotta be kidding. While a Powell endorsement of Obama is likely to be a non-event (dog bites man story), such an endorsement of McCain would be huge.

Powell was fired by GWB!

McCain does not need that smell around him.

Powell is damaged goods.

McCain needs to seek the endorsement or Rummy!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Colin Powell endorsing McCain would go over great with the squishy middle voters who get to decide this election. And someone else has already pointed out that (1) Powell has already given $2,300 to McCain, nothing to Obama and (2) Powell has said before that Obama is not qualified to be President.
