I agree with your assessment of the "hanging around bad people = Senate" joke.

Obama thinks he is funny by comparing himself to Superman, but the reality is that Obama has more in common with Bizarro than he does with Superman.

Flat?

Holy cow! Stop with the compliments!

Somewhere some philosopher wrote some insightful tome about humor and character - obviously that wasn’t me - but if you ever needed to know the basic difference between the two men that episode was it.

McCain was humorous while self-deprecating. An adventure in the realm of the roast that Dean Martin would have loved.

Obama was flat, unfunny, awkward. His attempts at self-deprecation were self-insulting. Awful, awful.

Other than that I have no strong opinion on the subject.

The way in which he was joking about the economy I didn’t think seemed quite appropriate considering how much many people are hurting. Something about the delivery.

Was this at the W Hotel this evening? I just got home because I got stuck between 51st and Lexington three hours ago. Traffic was blocked off in a two block radius of the hotel with a huge police and plain clothes presence. I was told The One was coming thru and he didnt wish to be bothered with everyday things like traffic lights.

I have to say - New Yorkers being what they are - were pretty pissed off and had less than charitable things to say about 0bama while we were standing on the sidewalk.

Here's another very funny McCain bit, in case you missed it:

Does anybody know what he was talking about Rudy Guilani? Was that in bounds about him cross dressing? I have no idea what that is about.
Much of his jokes were about him in a big way. Very self centered sounding in my opinion.

And then he finishes off by lecturing the audience about the poor, the audacity of the arrogant. McCain ripped Obama apart with class and humor. The lines about Bill Clinton campaigning, and his opponents get out the vote organization were great.

yep. it ls all about him. we are just floats in his parade.

you know i just wonder though. it pisses me off in a deep way for McCain to be so cordial to this guy in this hoity doity setting. you know Sarah would not be welcome there. McCain is not going to receive one vote (maybe Hillary) from anyone in that room. why is he even there? in this hard fought election with people in the country having dissapearing 401Ks and trully worried about their retirement and their country becoming Socialists - i don’t like these time outs and glad handings. these people in that room hate and denigrate the likes of you and me and Sarah.

you can’t be with us and be with them. you are either with us or against us. you are one of us or not. i am sorry maverick, even you, can’t have it both ways.

I have to admit I enjoyed seeing hillary laughing hysterically.....of course it helped that we couldn't HEAR her cackle....that might have spoiled the evening.

If anybody wants to see it and/or tape it, it's on On The Record with Greta Van Susteren and Fox plays it again at 12:00 am CST. McCain was very funny and well worth watching if you want to watch someone who is really sharp and funny. Obama seemed stuck on himself and at the end pompous and sanctimonious.

DITTO ! He's acting like a big shot, and you are right, Sarah would not be welcomed there at all!

I don’t agree that “no one in that room” supports him. Did you hear the applause when he said “I suspect there may be some in this room who support me”? There were many McCain supporters in that room. But his next line thanking Hillary for being there was hilarious!

I totally understand how you think. Republicans, including Bush constantly bend over backwards to be friendly and agreeable with the enemy. When are they going to figure out just how evil they really are. You don't shake hands with the Devil.

Maybe they think it makes them look like they are not bipartisan and will get along with and work with the other side. I doubt very much if the Democrats can be worked with. They bite you in the back at every opportunity. The Bible says do not cast your pearls before swine as they will turn and rend you.

I think if Obama keeps focusing on Fox News negatively he just might turn a giant against him. Lots of people watch Fox News.

Oh, it was at a press roast. I find any man dressed like a woman to be very disgusting, not funny. That aside, I didn’t know what Obama was talking about and it sounded like Rudy Guiliani had been discovered to be a cross dresser for real.
