A suspected US drone fired two missiles on Thursday into a Pakistani tribal area that is a known Al-Qaeda and Taliban hub, killing at least five people, security officials said.

The strike in South Waziristan came hours after a suicide bomb destroyed a police station in a separate area of northwest Pakistan, where the government is waging a military campaign against Islamic militants.

"Two missiles were fired, completely destroying the house. Reports confirm five dead," a security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

There was no immediate confirmation of the strike from the Pakistani military or from the US-led coalition in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Residents cleared debris from the remains of the house in the search for more bodies after the drones, which had circled over the scene following the attack, flew away.

It would but I don’t expect it. I would be thrilled to see “Video Zawahiri” nabbed this time though.

US officials familiar with the Oct. 9 strike The Long War Journal they believe the operation was compromised by Pakistani intelligence, as the meeting was abruptly broken up just 10 minutes prior to the strike. And the Paki president once again issues his canned condemnation, for the public: "We will not allow_ (wink wink) U.S. to operate within our country." Anyone who thinks we aren't operating with full sanction is naive. GO U.S.A.

58 killed in Pakistan’s Bajaur region

I hope we give our troops in the KUNAR the additional troops they need to catch these barbarians in the crossfire, rather than letting them jump back into the Kunar -

Good. Keep the pressure on. I was hoping that we would see the increase in strikes that we have witnessed in the past year. This may be the last we see of these operations depending on what happens with our election.

He, those Pakistanis are wily.

The whole Afghanistan thingie has been compromised by ISI, from the early days of late 01 when they sent the US forces on numerous wildgoose chases.
