"Because even if the females are directed into non-combat roles, it distracts from the conscription of males."

Seems to work just fine in Israel.

Israel's a tiny country. They're unlikely to have to ever fight on their own a nation as big as China or Russia. And they'd quickly use a nuke if necessary to protect themselves. They don't go into places like Iraq or Vietnam and fight extended wars.

Things which might work okay in a tiny country without worldwide responsibilities might not work so well here. There are likely socialistic programs that work fine in Iceland that would be catastrophic boondoggles in our large, populous, multicultural America. The same is probably true for military configuration.

The Israelis feel that because of their position, being a small land surrounded by aggressive nations that want them dead, that they must maintain conscription and they draft females to handle non-combat roles. Perhaps there are extreme circumstances where women should be conscripted for such purposes. But virtually every other nation on earth gets by without doing that. I see no point in us doing it, especially when we have such a large anti-military element in our population, which would surely use a mass female presence in the military against us. And when we have activist judges and grandstanding politicians howling “sexism” all the time, threatening to send women into combat. And when the standards are already being lowered to make things more cushy for females in the military, even without filling it up with teeny boppers who would never join unless conscripted. And when pregnancy is a problem already in the military.
