STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Paul Krugman, the Princeton University scholar and New York Times columnist, won the Nobel economic prize Monday for his analysis of how economies of scale can affect trade patterns and the location of economic activity.
Krugman has been a harsh critic of the Bush administration and the Republican Party in The New York Times, where he writes a regular column and has a blog called "Conscience of a Liberal."
He has come out forcefully against John McCain during the economic meltdown, saying the Republican candidate is "more frightening now than he was a few weeks ago" and earlier that the GOP has become "the party of stupid."

You can now add Krugman to the list of 'fine' Nobel winners: Arafat, Gore, UN IPCC.
Krugman is a joke amongst economists. There was no doubt the the Nobel prize is an instrument of leftist politics. Just another application of the same.

Proving once for all (as if there had been any doubt!) that winners of the Nobel Economics Prize are smoking weed with Willie on a continuing basis.

This is just a modern-day remake of the “Emperor has no Clothes” fable. Both the Nobel Prize committee and Krugman can have starring roles...

I’m confused. I thought they picked economists for this prize.

Every time I've read Krugman the last few years I've thought to myself 'I had 4 classes in economics in college, and I've got a better handle on the subject than this bozo.' If this were a one time deal I could write it off as a fluke, but between the recent sneering at the U.S. by the Nobel literati, giving Gore a 'peace prize' for Global Warming alarmism, and giving a Nobel for the development of MRI scanning to a couple guys who refined the imaging technique instead of Dr. Damadian, who actually conceived the medical utility, proved it out, developed the technique, prototyped and built the first scanners, because he's a Christian, well let's just say the Nobel has become a laughingstock. (OUCH, I apologize for that run-on sentence....)

I think Obama was robbed. But I hear he is still in the running for the Physics and Medicine prizes.

I’m sure his fine work with Enron also contributed to this lofty achievement.
What a joke the Nobels have become.
BTW, you left Jimmy Carter off your list.

Here is my definition of the ‘Nobel Prize.’
Liberals giving awards to Liberals for being Liberals.
And I should care.. Why?
To: kidd
Krugman is a joke amongst economists. That is far from the truth. Though Krugman's columns are incredibly one sided and lacking at times, his economic work for which he won the Nobel is top rate. His work on international trade is widely regarded in the economics field.
While it can be argued that the award at this time seems very political, there is no doubt that Krugman did deserve it at least eventually.

The Sun now sets in the east.
The Summer is the new winter.
Krugman, the Socialist, wins the nobel prize for economics.
Obama is supremely qualified to be POTUS/CIC.

Seriously?? What research has he ever done? What a joke. I deserve that Nobel prize more than he does. And, I don't deserve it.
