I don’t think your stupid, just a product of public education...ill informed. The initials U.S. stand for the name of the government that the Founding Fathers from the thirteen united States of America established with the adoption of the Constitution in 1789. This government, named United States, aquired territory, and called these territories States. Shortly after 1908 these territories were grouped together into what is known as the United States of America. These United States of America includes Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, Virgin Islands, and any oth territory of the United States. Hawaii and Alsaka were States of the United States until they were admitted into the Union, wherein they became one of the united States of America. You must be a u.S Citizen.
