Kohl’s checks it every time, and Macy’s has started to do so recently. That’s interesting. why is that?
Maybe the policy has changed, but I think it originally was to ensure people were confident in pulling out and using their card without being hassled. Also, the security is better if you’re not giving license info, etc., to the retail clerk who has your card.
