PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08
Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3
While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

John McCain is doing well.
Tonight may not be his best performance, but, Obama is awful.
The pauses, the ahhhhs, the ssss’s, the unintelligent responses, the blank pauses .
Which frankly surprises me.
Thought Obama would lap McCain.
Just the opposite has happened.

I have been praying confusion on the other side today just like in the battle of Gideon. Victory was his and he didn’t even raise a sword.

What shop? In Nashville? Coiffure in Donelson on the east side of Nashville.
I believe they were truly looking for undecideds based on what our CEO said about his conversation with Gallup.

“Palin is not finished on a national stage.”
I agree. Regardless of who wins this election, she’ll definitely rack up more experience, either as governor or VP. The inexperience charge will go away.

It’s a trollfest EVERY debate so far. People I never see on a regular basis, or the same chicken littles in the poll threads are here.

Obama: We’re going to “work with your employer” to lower the cost of your premiums.
Yeah, I got it...
To: _Jim
Health care — oh my. Obama talks about the problem. Why in the heck cannot he discuss his solution. Oh, he does not have one. He continues on the problem. How is he going to work with employers to lower costs. Idiot. Most records are already in computers. Now he talks about McCain’s plan.

Its not so much that McCain sucks I dont think hes that bad but Obama is so damned smooth. He has the Clinton touch tonight.
There is one thing Obama doesn't have, and I do hope it comes across to the American public, passion for America.

I think some folks who are complaining about how McCain's doing are just listening and not watching at the same time. Listening and posting here causes (me anyway) to not give full attention to what is being said.
McCain is doing good, for the most part. He has stumbled a bit, but he is connecting with the folks in the audience on the stage, and making sense for the most part. I think that is good - because he is also connecting with folks watching.
Obama is a cracker. A low-sodium cracker.
You make a good point ... I'll put the laptop down and "watch." I remember what they said about those who HEARD the debate between Kennedy and Nixon and those who watched it ... Hence, I usually just listen to these things. I'll watch some, now, too ... never been zotted.

McCain seems to have a bit more force in his answers now. Finally! Hit him, John.
McCain is like an automobile engine on a cold day. Start out slow and easy for the first 10 minutes until it gets warmed up, then start cruising at 70mph.
