Yuck, but good.

I’m glad his family will have closure.

What I figured. I am guessing he had a medical issue???

Was a clear day, so he had to have clear vision of the mountain. If having mechanical problems, certainly Fossett would’ve instictively set off a beacon, or whatever you call it, called in on the radio at least. Even just a 5 secs would have been enough time for someone that seasoned to do something unless there is wicked downdrafting in the area. A sharp slap to the ground would be the only explaination I can think of where Fossett would not have had time to react.

Yesterday, one of the articles mentioned that the jacket/sweatshirt had animal hairs on it, so I was afraid that this was likely the case.

Even if he survived the impact, which is unlikely given what the FAA has already released, he would have been severely injured and at the mercy (or lack thereof) of any number of predators that dwell in those mountains.

I'd say there are a great number of coyotes, mountain lions, and black bears, along with smaller predators like bobcats, lynxes, etc., living in those mountains, and that some of them would have been drawn in by the scent.
