I’m figuring he got in the clouds and had a Cumulogranite experance A very good bet. Medical incapacitation of a pilot is a pretty rare cause of accidents. Mechanical failure a little more likely but continued VFR into IMC is a real killer. Even if you're instrument rated (something I try to remind myself as an instrument rated private pilot.)
