That’s the first time I’ve seen an SR-71 on an aircraft carrier, LOL!
That’s the single seater A-12 Blackbird, the immediate predecessor to the SR-71.
It was initially developed as an interceptor, but the Air Force didn’t want it at the time.
I got to walk under the wing, which is surprisingly low by the way.
And, I ran my hand on the aircraft skin.
You could push a screwdriver through it, it is that thin.
But being titanium, it’s quite strong.
And then they cordoned off the aircraft afterwards.
Went there for my 17th birthday, got to walk through the Regulus missile sub there, the U.S.S. Growler.
