McCain's 'Stop Sarah Palin' strategy working like a charm, polls show
LA Times ^ | 10/2/2008 | Andrew Malcolm

Fresh evidence tonight that the brilliant McCain campaign strategy to lock away the political effervesence of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to stoke overconfidence among the nation's Democrats and set the stage for yet another improbable Arizona comeback is working exactly as planned.

For more than 10 days now the 44-year-old mother of five, who upset the ancient Republican establishment in Alaska two years ago by driving herself to campaign events and talking to pretty much any group that would have her, has been cut off from normal Americans who watched her by the many millions give a spunky speech at the Republican National Convention and then overnight turned her name into seven of the top 10 search terms on Google.

But John McCain's strategists had a better idea than letting Palin be Palin. They set her up with TV reporters born to ask questions until they found some she couldn't answer.

No doubt the campaign's idea was to show the hockey mom was pretty much like any other American who couldn't recall Marbury v Madison if their cellphone depended on it.

Wait, come to think of it, the other vice presidential candidate didn't cite a famous Supreme Court case by name either. But nevermind. We don't want to confuse the conventional Palin story line.

So the pressure is even greater for Thursday night's sole vice presidential debate between Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, the senator from somewhere who wears his hair down pretty much all the time.

I suppose it’s back to voting for Barr as the least objectionable choice.

If you were in MD, I'd say go for it.

But are you willing to live with the consequences of Øbama getting Pennsylvania's electoral votes?

I am disgusted by McLame. But Nøbama scares me. Think about the impact...

Don’t panic folks. I heard Palin on Hannity yesterday and she sounded great. Expectations for her are very low going into the debate tonight, which is exactly where she needs them to be. I think she will do better than most people expect. She also isn’t going to get Katie-type questions since Biden will have to answer them too. Also, with the 0bama book deal coming to light, Gwin will be on her very best behavior.

I think you are a liberal Obama voter. You don’t fool me. Don’t you know socialism doesn’t work? Socialism/Government running things causes poverty and oppression and takes away human rights. Socialism is stealing and slavery and it’s a disaster for the economy.

I will vote for McCain/Palin because I support Sarah Palin.

I can’t wait to see Sarah in the debate tonight. Go Sarah!

I see you McCain Bashers want to see Obama who is an anti-American Marxist, Muslim, foreigner, who hang aound with traitors and terrorists elected the next president and commanding our troops. Have you no shame you liberals?

Of course it occurred to me. I am hoping McClame wins. My thought for the day is this. The majority of voters are going for socialism. They like it. Telling them Obama is a socialist/marxist or communist and thinking they will reject him may be wishful thinking. The majority might want to give marxism a try. What do you think?

Congrats you dummy you just elected Obama by ticking off your Conservative base for the last time.

I guess the one bright spot in all this is that, if McIdiot loses, at least he'll be off the political stage permanently, and the conservative base will have one less person spitting in our cornflakes from now on.

I know but I am thinking it is like having a program to a game. Rand nailed what is going on and how it will happen. Here it is. Right before our eyes.

“As angry as I am at McCain I am not ready to hand over the presidency of this country to Obama, sorry to see that you are.”

+1000

This is about MUCH larger issues than this vote. Furthermore, regardless how angry some may be with his vote, there is a real risk of economic collapse.

NObama would be a disaster for America, period. McCain is a far better choice, at a crucial time for our country. Our collective motto when we wake up every morning had better be “I have not yet begun to fight!”, right up ‘til election day.

McCain/Palin ‘08!

(BTW, don’t forget Palin will be a major influence far longer than McCain.)

“That’s what people here do not realize and also, their candidates all lost.”

You’re exactly right, it’s the angry Romney fans who want to see McCain lose, they are everywhere on this site. They constantly talk McCain down, criticize him and do their best to depress us just like DU trolls.

Voting anti-Obama.

I’m tired of the doom and gloom, but it seems to happen in every campaign nowadays.

Mccain embarks on a truly informative campaing for the following weeks naming names and making connections to the Obama campaign no lies nor innuendos but facts, how does the media hide those facts?

Perhaps, but couldn't he do it without spiking us with another....what is it up to now, $900 billion?...load of debt, government pork, and higher taxes? It's going to be a really tough sell convincing everybody that the problem is that Obama and Co. are economically unsound (which is true), when he himself, as well as the majority of his party in the Senate, just voted through a massive fiscally-irresponsible bill that the majority of the American people have strenuously said they oppose.

Look, I really, really want to like John McCain and vote for him, but it's like he's intent on making conservatives not want to vote for him. What's his deal, anywise?
