What does this have to do with the Financial Crisis at hand
Maybe it allows us to commit any Senator that votes for this bill.
After they elect NObama, he will cut the military, just like Clinton did. Also after he takes away our guns, I guess woodarrows will be in great supply. Can I buy stock in a wooden arrow company?

H.R. 6983: Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008
To amend section 712 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, section 2705 of the Public Health Service Act, and section 9812 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to require equity in the provision of mental health and substance-related disorder benefits under group health plans, and for other purposes.
See H.R. 6983 on THOMAS for the official source of information on this bill.
What is a House Bill (H.R.)?
A bill must be passed by both the House and Senate and then be signed by the President before it becomes law.

better not be Oklahoma-
Yeah, addressing the credit markets is SO URGENT that Senators have obviously spent a lot of time and effort loading their pet projects and agendas into a bill that is too urgent to vote against. Balderdash. It should be shot down and its sponsors told to come back with a clean bill that ONLY addresses urgent issues. If Senators can't take the urgency seriously, why should any of us?
is this the congress giving everyone the shaft because their first bill didn’t pass?
At least Wellstone and Domenici have the decency to put their names on it.
Yep—what they couldn’t get passed as separate legislation they have inserted into the bailout bill.
I think it proves that many in the Senate have mental health problems.
Bump!
Sure it's a tax cut, and I'm all for that, but I do not support bills with more riders than the NY subway. If you want a bill for x, y, and z, they you should make a bill for them.
How many laws have been passed that the legislators them selves are unaware of? Far too many, I'm sure.
and is all of this stuff supposed to be paid for out of the $700 Billion?
If the Senators jump off a bridge, would you do the same?
The majority of the senators apparently don't understand economics and banking, or they wouldn't be messing around with this. They would have gotten it done.
Urgent issues...
pg. 180 (follows lots of pages on other global warming provisions)
SEC. 117. CARBON AUDIT OF THE TAX CODE.
(a) STUDY.The Secretary of the Treasury shall enter into an agreement with the National Academy of Sciences to undertake a comprehensive review of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to identify the types of and specific tax provisions that have the largest effects on carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions and to estimate the magnitude of those effects.
From the looks of it, all of this garbage is in addition to the $700 Bilion scam.
Nominated for Post Of The Day.

OMG.
What the hell is global warming stuff doing in this bill?
It looks to me like they’ve taken every tax-credit proposal awaiting senate vote and dumped it into this bill as a way of increasing liquidity. It has some logic, but some of this cr@p is just that—cr@p!
I’d like to see some investigative team follow the trail and find out who put that provision in and why.
I’m certain that this was inserted in order to secure a key vote, but by who? And what lobbyist has that legislator by the short hairs?
A tax cut for a special interest is the same as an earmark.
