Too many James Bond movies?
This is in my neck of the woods.
"Atlas Shrugged" remains one of my all-time favorites. I periodically run down and buy a new copy so that I can re-read it and pass it along to someone else.
I see that book as a blueprint for EVERYTHING we are seeing today. That makes Ayn Rand incredibly prescient and raises her several more notches in my esteem. She called it 50 years ago and it's happening now!!!
She called it because she saw it happen in Russia when the Communists took over.
Yes, I'm pretty familiar with her biography. I've read almost everything she wrote.
From what I can tell the aircraft are one and the same.
The fact that some clothes of Fossett may have turned up tends to put my theory of flying into a hillside into the dumpster. Although he could have still crashed and been able to get away from the craft before it caught on fire.
Hopefully more will turn up in the next day or two. We shall see.

From reading the thread I see it referenced that he was flying a Bellanca Super Decathalon. from Wilipedia...
The Decathlon traces its lineage back to the Aeronca Champ, by way of the Citabria. Like the Citabria, the Decathlon features tandem seating and joystick controls. The fuselage and tail surfaces are constructed of welded metal tubing. The outer shape of the fuselage is created by a combination of wooden formers and longerons, covered with fabric. The cross-section of the metal fuselage truss is triangular, a design feature which can be traced all the way back to the earliest Aeronca C-2 design of the late 1920s.
Unless he went into the lake I would think something would turn up, eh?

AP reporting wreckage found after aerial search....no further info

KTTV reported same during their newscast. Though the reporter seemed like he’d spent the afternoon at Ganga U. with the snowboarders.
Fox reporting Fossett’s plane has been found.
Anderson said that it appears that Fossett plowed head-on into a mountainside.
“The crash looked to be so severe that I doubt if someone would have walked away from it,” said Anderson during a Thursday news conference. The engine was lying about 300 feet from the wings and the fuselage, which disintegrated on impact.
