Several U.S. battleships are currently surrounding the Ukrainian ship which was hijacked by Somali pirates last week. Their purpose is to prevent the unloading of the 33 tanks and other military equipment that is currently onboard.
The captain of a hijacked Ukrainian ship being held off the coast of Somalia has died. Conflicting reports suggest he died of heart attack or hypertension.
The pirates have initially demanded a ransom of $US35 million, reportedly lowering their demands to $US5 million.

Russia contracted the Ukranian ship to do the delivery and the Russian tanks are theirs.
Yes, actually they do have say over the ship. They're going to get their tanks and stuff back.
Okay, well, tell it to the Navy. According to the captions for the Navy pictures above; they’re Ukrainian tanks.

They likely already have magnetic explosives around the engine compartment and near the feeders waiting for the signal. $5 says it sinks.
Those are old Soviet-built tanks, owned by Ukraine after the collapse of USSR.
Ukraine indeed is a manufacturer of armored vehicles but its main production is T-80 (and its further modification T-84). T-72 (and its further modification T-90) produced in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, and they have never been produced in Ukraine.
