Just heard an interview on radio with a local congressman (LaTourette, R-OH). He said phone calls into his office were running 200-1 against the bill. He voted no.
She did vote against it, but she did so because it did not have the goodies in it that she wanted, like extended unemployment, bailout for credit card debt, automobile debt, etc. etc. etc.
He voted against it. Pretty much all of the Dems who defeated Repubs in swing districts in 2006 voted against it because they feared not getting reeelected if they voted for it.
Some of both.
The fat Sanchez sister was just on CNN saying just that very thing.
Really, than explain the 95 Dem no votes- Pelosi’s speech may have had some of the Repubs voting no but most of them did it because its a bad bill.
Whoa! I had not seen the breakdown of the actual votes before my post. I incorrectly assumed that he voted against, since he seemed so adamantly opposed to the $hit sandwich they were trying to cram down our throats. Thanks for your post.
