You start tossing around the name Mussolini and you get people's hopes up that the trains (and planes) will start running on time. Might be a timely example.
He made the trains run on time by revising the schedule not by more productivity. He just added 10-15 minutes to the paper schedule.
Sounds like the bailout plan - nothing changed but the appearance.

Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out and by the Eternal God I will rout you out. If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution BEFORE MORNING. Andrew Jackson GREAT quote!!!!!

What I like about these posts is hearing about something new, but going to the original gov't link (
Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 --pdf 188k) shows a lot more than what the press wants you to know about. Things like:
SEC. 122. INCREASE IN STATUTORY LIMIT ON THE PUBLIC
DEBT.Subsection (b) of section 3101 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking out the dollar limitation contained in such subsection and inserting $11,315,000,000,000.
