Look’s like it’s gone only from a blank check to a blank checkbook.

Let’s just hope McCain votes no so that he can sink 0 during the economics debate.

The Dems look scared. You can see it in their faces. There is something else going on here that we don't know. There might be something to your observations. I don't see them as looking scared, but I see them repeatedly trying to hang the blame on Bush, as if to try to get out in front of a building story. Maybe a story about certain government-mandated lending practices, or about certain members of their respective bodies that are in tight with the leaders of such entities as Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and other large "private" institutions.
They want to blame before the truth comes out IMHO. And dang it, that truth had better come out!

OK, Rahm Emanual is out saying CONSERVATISM caused this crises.....that an ideology of no regulation caused this crisis....Republicans caused this crisis.
Why is he doing this now?
What is this play?

I have a feeling McCains planning the mother of all rope-a-dopes on this one.”
I wondered that myself. His whole campaign has been one big surprise after another.

He’s been talking a lot, but not saying anything!

I’ve been pondering the same thing. All day long nObama has been making the rounds, spouting off and I thought WTF is McCain doing? Then I remembered that Schmidt is in charge and hope and pray that he has a set of brass ones to pull off the MOAB (Mother of all Barackisms) on Nobie Bin Biden.

The easiest thing in the world would be for McCain to just go along with Obama's stance on the bailout ("I'm signing it, but I don't like it") and thus make it a non-issue for the rest of the election, since they would have equal footing.
However I don't think it's all that likely. McCain "doesn't run with the herd". He'll find a way to do the right thing on this bill.

It was just reported on John Batchelor’s show that W and McCain are twisting the Repubs’ arms to sign.

This is th 2nd time the Dems have called a presser to announce that the deal is done when the deal’s definitely not done.

I vote CONSERVATIVE! We may have to have our 2nd Revolution to keep our country free. It’s been on my mind a lot lately.

I have a feeling McCains planning the mother of all rope-a-dopes on this one. I think you give McCain way too much credit. He has been lucky in that his opponent is dumb and his people are too sold on their own lies.

THAT WON’T HAPPEN: If these mushy Republican ACTUALLY VOTE FOR THIS THING: The only way they’re “Gonna let the Americans know the DEMS were really to blame” is to VOTE AGAINST THIS, (Not to ‘compromise).

We can stop worrying...we’ll all be dead before the R’s get to the microphones.
To: fatima
When they came out and had their press conf earlier- they were shaken- they voices shook, they sounded very worried.
I know they’re all exahusted- so that’s part of it- but the fear was palpable.
More than one non-conspiratorial, grounded, sane person has wondered for that last week WHAT is really going on here.
