Notably missing from the group was House Republican leader John Boehner, which could indicate there were still issues to be worked out.
Representative Roy Blunt, whom Boehner appointed to work on behalf of reluctant House Republicans in the past days of negotiations, spoke on behalf of their faction, and was cautious.
“We need to look and see where we are on paper tomorrow,” Blunt said. “I think we are going to be able to have an announcement tomorrow, but these are difficult issues.”
The White House said it was “very pleased with the progress made tonight in these discussions” and “pleased by the hard work on both sides of the aisle,” CNN reported.

Maybe they're doing this to bring the Bush-Dem plan to a vote and force the Rats to pass it all on their own.
Thanks for the ping. I watched the presser on CNN late last night and was incensed at the way the dems tried to act like all the ‘breakthroughs’ were due to their work. CNN was only parroting Dem talking points. At one point, the reporterette even said: ‘KEY DEMOCRATS working all night with huh..well...a few republicans...”
Schumer had this evil looking grin on his face...Pelosi, as always, acted like she was queen(even though Frank is the real ‘queen’)....Reid was insufferable to watch or listen to...Dodd looked like he belonged in jail! They all belong in jail!
God Bless The House Republicans!
God Save Our Country from the Democrats!
