I have to agree with Gunny, McCain had the opportunity to hit a homerun on bailout questions with a clear and concise explanation of what the House conservatives are have as an alternative plan. John flopped, looked hesitant in his attacks and stumbled around on several comments.

Dear God, thy will be done and come to our aid in turning this around. Amen

Because he is no different than Obama.

Both know what public opinion is currently. That’s why they stumbled.

I don't think either candidate was prepared to go in depth about the bailout, and therefore the part of the debate on the economy was a draw.

Remember the stakes involved in the bailout -- no responsible politician is going to come out spouting blame, attacks and threats at this time and risk not only the plan that is being negotiated right now, but a crash in the market caused by their ill considered words.

The next debate is going to be about economic issues. Hopefully by then the candidates won't have to walk on eggshells when discussing it, and there will be much more separation between them.

I was disappointed on that too. He could've hit a home run by saying the government takeover of the mortgage industry, as per the Bush-Obama plan, is unacceptable. And then explain the House Republican plan. Darn. I was so hoping...
