From Team McCain....
To Interested Parties:
To address our current financial crisis, John McCain suspended his campaign and returned to Washington, D.C., today to help build a bipartisan consensus for a proposal that would protect the American taxpayer.
Despite today's news reports, there never existed a "deal," but merely a proposal offered by a small, select group of Members of Congress. As of right now, there exists only a series of principles, including greater oversight and measures to address CEO pay. However, these principles do not enjoy a consensus in Congress.
At today's cabinet meeting, John McCain did not attack any proposal or endorse any plan. John McCain simply urged that for any proposal to enjoy the confidence of the American people, stressing that all sides would have to cooperate and build a bipartisan consensus for a solution that protects taxpayers.
However, the Democrats allowed Senator Obama to run their side of the meeting. That did not work as the meeting quickly devolved into a contentious shouting match that did not seek to craft a bipartisan solution.
At this moment, the plan that has been put forth by the Administration does not enjoy the confidence of the American people as it will not protect that taxpayers and will sacrifice Main Street in favor of Wall Street.
The bottom line is that as of tonight, there are not enough Republican or Democrat votes for the current plan. However, we are still optimistic that a bipartisan solution will be found. Republicans and Democrats want a deal that will protect the taxpayers.
Tomorrow, John McCain will return to Capitol Hill where he will work with all sides to build a bipartisan solution that protects taxpayers and keeps Americans in their homes.
THE POSTER SAYS HE IS IN THE MEDIA AND IS ON A MEDIA LIST WITH THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN
Hmmm...kinda like "immigration reform".
I can absolutely believe TheOne was screaming. Anyone with an ego that big seldom refrains from expressing their views in the most adamant fashion. If they were ignoring him or his ideas he most definitely would explode. Besides, shouting down opponents is the number one tactic of the left.
Yes. Brilliant move.
Interestingly, this diversion into the economy makes it very likely that the questions at any debate would be unpredictable. It also means that McCain can inject all kinds of unrelated asides into foreign policy questions.
Obama, on the other hand, has to practice, practice, practice, to get this foreign policy stuff down since he’s a neophyte. He would have given his rote answers and he would have done well enough. He is a good speaker, a better public speaker, in fact, than is John McCain.
Memory is his only crutch if he doesn’t have his teleprompter.
But, what if the questions aren’t those he thought they’d be due to this economic fiasco?
We’ll get just what you say: “ER, uhhh, ahhhhh...”
143 days in the Senate.
If the Senate is about knowing the rules, the law, and the minds of all other Senators, and having relationships with a good number of them, then Obama is a Zero.

...there exists only a series of principles,...

Yes, indeed. Upon what PRINCIPLES will any proposed solution be made? Will the first principle be to acknowledge where exactly government money comes from? (like the taxpayers).
It would be an excellent idea for people to demand to see this “series”.
"Did he need to suspend his campaign to do that?"
I'd say so...the dems could evidently care less about protecting us taxpayers...they're too interested in seeing how much pork they can get into the bailout and what's in it for them...
Excellent points.
Yes.
The thought of Obama being president of the United states frightens me beyond words. McCain has made a lot of stupid decisions, but at least he is capable of making a decision.
Ike knew that the decision to invade Normandy on 6/6/44 was a very bad decision. But it was a decision he had to make and it was the only decision that could have been made. Sometimes a bad decision is the best decision. If D Day failed, then the Allies would have had no choice but to sue Germany for peace. I'm beginning to wonder if this financial crisis is not an economic D-Day of sorts. For some reason eveyone seems to think that if nothing is done by this weekend, that some kind of irreversible calamity is going to take place. If whatever is done fails, then what happens?
And Obama wants to debate foreign policy in Mississippi tonight. God help us all.
I woke up today convinced the timing of this “meltdown” is indicative of why it seems our biggest national crises always occur in the month of September. That’s because every other September is the pivotal month in national elections. That’s the only reason.
We are being manipulated away from Obama. If there is crisis or calamity in the world, we will go for the safe choice. Damn, rich people can get busy when they see a socialist coming down the pipeline.
I’m tuning it all out until the election is decided.
Look at the corruption in our government now. If Obama becomes President, we will be Rwanda and Zimbabwe rolled into one, the corruption and police state behavior will be beyond unspeakable.
And Obama is reticent and fought this crisis tough and nail until the world came to him tapped him on the shoulder and said hey buddy, your campaign just got derailed whether you like it or not. He was ready to arrive at the beauty contest debates, sign a few Rolling Stone covers and just roll on baby. That’s not happening now. He just saw his hopes dashed. He probably did scream. Ha ha. I’m losing my ass but I don’t care as long as Obama goes down.
Perhaps that is what the teleprompter told him to do.
You point out the real question that isn’t being asked at all, but is on the mind of so many.
Obama — Who is this guy????
Bears repeating. You have it nailed perfectly.
“We are being manipulated away from Obama. If there is crisis or calamity in the world, we will go for the safe choice. Damn, rich people can get busy when they see a socialist coming down the pipeline.”
Funny you sound so much like a Obama socialist.
I haven’t needed to be manipulated away from the O, I am anti-Marxist.
But you sound like a pro-Marxist troll.
Obama must be completely frustrated because it’s clear to him he has to actually perform. Until now, every so-called “achievement” has been the result of affirmative action. Now, when he doesn’t get his own way he doesn’t know how to handle the situation. Life’s rough for a little mulatto guy having to play with the big boys in the real world.
“Did he need to suspend his campaign for that?”
He didn’t really “suspend his campaign”; he just moved it to his turf. The whole world is watching McCain and the Republicans are working hand in hand with him to make him look like a hero. Meanwhile, Obama and his camp are in shock and out of their element, after rehearsing three days for the debate that may or may not happen.
When McCain suspended his canidancy does that allow him to save on his presidential funds for a few days so his 84 million will go further?
