Breaking: Obama Refuses to Delay the Debate

“In my mind, it’s more important than ever that we present ourselves to the American people and describe where we want to take the country and where we want to take the economy,” said the Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama.

The statement was given in response to Senator John McCain’s surprising announcement that he had suspended his campaign to focus on the looming financial crisis in America by returning to Washington to help craft and pass emergency legislation.

McCain had invited his opponent to join him in returning to Washington to deal with the crisis. He also asked for a delay in the first debate of the General election which is scheduled for Friday evening in Mississippi.

Senator Obama refused, telling the media “This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess.” Earlier in the day, Obama had agreed to issue a joint statement with McCain concerning the crisis. However, sources in the Obama campaign are now intimating that Senator McCain’s move is some kind of political “ploy”.

The debate was on foreign policy not the economy which is McCain’s strong point.

Can this election get anymore bizarre?

Obama has a stroke and is replaced by Hillary? McCain resigns and Palin steps up to the plate? Nuclear terrorism throws USA to the right?

Sure, it can get a lot more bizarre.

I hope and pray you are correct and I am totally wrong in this case, I really do! But, I really think this looks bad for Our Candidate, he cant always write his own rules and there is still a real live President in the Oval Office. Just now, Dinghy Harry Reid announced some more stuff about McCain not being needed and it just looks like the RATS are doing all they can for sabotage. MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Plus the McCain camp has said that the call came in at 8:30 but McCain did not talk to them, and no message or even a topic for why they were calling was left with whoever took the call. So all that Obama did is call McCain, but no conversation took place.

“Call me if you need me”. We don’t need you Obama. Let Obama debate with CNN. The debates are just liberal media setups anyway.

The Dems are going to looks so stupid on this issue after this is said and done. The Dems will continue to play politics with this issue instead of getting things accomplished for the good of this country.

Yes! The American people will see this play out and then McCain can say--see? THIS is what I am talking about!

-- The American people want to hear with the next President plans to do about this. --

McCain can express that from the well of the Senate, and could even debate Obama directly in that venue, on that subject, assuming it's the subject of pending or proposed legislation and Obama takes a position.

Under the Constitution, Congress has the responsibility to coin money and regulate the value thereof. The president's job is to faithfully execute the laws.

"True, but how will this be reported in the local media? Especially small-town-America media?"

You're joking, right?

They'll report it the same way the MSM will report it.

I see David Letterman has already begun the mocking of McCain.

God help you indeed.

It’s a trillion dollar deal here. Your great, great grandkids will be on the hook for making sure illegal aliens and welfare recipients could afford to buy an overpriced home.

McCain SHOULD go back to DC, since this issue could bring the whole house down in a NY minute. Obama should be there too.

God help me, but I agree with Obama here. The American people want to hear with the next President plans to do about this. This is McCain’s chance to shine and eliminate Obama’s one trump card, the economy.

This almost looks like he’s afraid of the debate.

The debate is about foreign affairs, not the economy.

Hopefully God will help you with your affliction.

I agree with Obama here ... who drugged you?

-- "CALL ME IF YOU NEED ME".....What a devastating line --

Directly saying you'll follow the party line, no questions asked. Yep. If the party needs my vote to beat back those evil Republicans, I'll be there. Otherwise, I have a campaign to run, as you know.

Zero must have forgotten there won’t be a teleprompter at the debates. Oh, wait ... he probably has the Q&As memorized and doesn’t want to be all dressed up with no place to go

awwww...Poor Zerobama thinks="I didn't spend all week eating hotel food while practicing for debates just to not debate", boo hoo hooo!

Might not work out so well for the media this time. Fact is, 90% plus of the people are totally involved with this fiancial crisis and that is what they are interested in right now. Debate can wait.
