“McCain has balls.”

...and no brains. I don’t think this is going to end up being a smart move for McCain. My first reaction (and Rush’s) was good grief.

All Obama has to say, “what you can’t walk and chew gum at the same time” or “I’m running for the highest office in the land, I’ll let the Senate do what it’s suppose to do...”

I have a sneaking suspicion that McCain knows what is in Bush’s speech tonight. I am no fan of McCain, but this is a brilliant bold stroke. It shows who the leader is and who the follower is.

He is in the Senate. He cannot do that.

Obama cannot let the senate do their job, while he is a Sitting Senator himself.

a Brilliant move by McCain.

You and Rush are wrong.

This is a brilliant move!

It’s a variation on the old “debating an empty chair” gambit, except it’s Obama who is in a no-win position.

The only problem is that they ARE in the Senate. Which means it's their job. Which means Obama is letting someone do his job on one of the most important economic decisions that the Senate has ever done.

But he's still in danger of appearing not caring about the 'crisis' and putting himself above the United States economy.

I see it this way. We are paying for those two bozos to work not campaign and ride around in airplanes everyday.

The confused reports to date make it appear that:

1. Obama privately raised the possibility of suspending campaigns for the next few days.

2. McCain went public, and added the idea of cancelling the debate.

3. Obama rejected the idea of cancelling the debate.

If that's how the story comes out when the smoke clears, McCain is going to be very busy applying a tourniquet to the bullet wounds in his foot.

Obama and Biden are members of the Senate. Obama saying "I'm running for the highest office in the land" is not good enough. He is paid to be a Senator and this isn't just a garden-variety sewage treatment plant bill. These are serious times and SENATOR Obama should be doing his job, not merely "letting the Senate do what it's supposed to do". He sould be doing what HE's supposed to do.
