The shine is wearing off. People are getting past the newness, and realizing this guy isn’t really what he seemed.

I’m still convinced this could be the second coming of George McGovern. Obama really could lose big.

Obama has to campaign in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Pennsylvania. That's a lot of time spent holding the fort down. Even after two weeks, he's still playing defense and the Gallup poll continues to tick downwards. Obama is not a happy man.

Green Bay was still hung over from the Packers loss to the Dallas Cowboys. They were in no mood to listen to The Messiah.

Recent polls have shown that Wisconsin — once pretty solidly in Obama’s column — is now a statistical dead heat between Obama and Republican John McCain. “You all know that you hold this election in your hands,” Sen. Russ Feingold.

Yes, Russ, it looks as though they are beginning to understand that fact.

What’s “unexpected”?

The crowds have been dwindling since the moment he “urned” the nomination.

Low Wisc. turnout only means that the Demoncratz will vote three times instead of the requisite two.

Differences in floor staging made it look like Obama had more than he actually did.

The McCain event had standing room only on the event floor - no chairs. The Obama event had chairs set up on the floor with wide aisles - telephoto lenses on photog cameras condensed the depth of field to make the room look much more full than it was. The McCain event was full up to the rafters while the Obama event only filled the lower portion of the bowl.

The Milwaukee Journal estimated “several thousand” at the Obama event yesterday - likely more truthful than the revised “6,000” estimate.

The cue line for the McCain event stretched 3/4 to a full mile before the even opened up - clear out to Oneida ave, entirely around the Packers practice facilty and then back to “Holmgren way” and a couple blocks past there.

The line outside while McCain and Palin were appearing at the Resch Center was still longer than the Obama cue line was at any point leading up to or during Obama’s event.

A very poor showing - made worse by the appearance by Governor Doyle (who defeated Mark Green, from Green Bay) last election cycle, Senator Kohl (a Milwaukee guy) and Senator Russ Feingold (a Madison guy). The Wisconsin dynamic is Milwaukee and Madison vs the rest of the state. Many if not a majority of folks in Green Bay resent the influence that Milwaukee (and its liberal decay) have on the rest of the state.

Obama should have gone elsewhere and kept his pals in Milwaukee to “get out the vote.”

Uncharacteristically low turnout for Barack Obama rally in Green Bay, Wisc.

Actually, it's not uncharacteristic at all! Like the 75,000 person rally in Portland, Oregon? 4,000 showed up for Obama and the other 71,000 for the free concert beforehand.

Or the 200,000 in Germany where 10,000 showed up for Obama and 190,000 showed up for the free concerts.

See, Team Obama screwed up and forgot to have the free concert first!
