And if people actually watched the skit they would see that it was not critical of the Palin family...it showed the smears were just made up and unsubstantiated. The people 'smearing' (the elite MSM) were severely damaged themselves...the bullseye was aimed at the NYTimes...not the Palins.
McCain has been on SNL several times...he always gets good laughs and comes across really well. SNL has infact skewered Obama (anybody remember the Hillary Debate skit where the moderators ask if they can get Barry anything...a pillow...and become orgasmic when he responds to 'that' question?) I am guessing alot (ok, most here) don't remember that one...because they don't watch the show...only comment upon it.

Let's put it this way, SNL became too smarmy for normal people to watch over 20 years ago. However, during an election year stuff will ooze up out of there into public consciousness ~ this time on U-tube, et al, and that makes it quite posible for everybody to see what the fuss was about in daylight.
End of story.
NBC is indefensible.

well...the incest joke got maybe 3 chuckles from the audience
some of the serious skewering of the NYT got a little nervous laughter, I could tell the audience wasn’t sure about laughing at the sharper daggers...not surprising given the audience
the more benign polar bear stuff got more laughs
