But suggesting that a man has committed incest is over the line. That is not funny. Rather it is reprehensible.

The reason I think this was well done is that it was a "fly-on-the-wall" look at an organization like the NYT.

The fact that SNL used Todd Palin, his daughters, and incest in the same sentence is not the issue. The issue is that this is what IMO the reporter(s) THINK. And the fact that the assertion was treated the same as if this reporter had suggested that Todd was involved with space aliens, deserves a thumbs-up to SNL.

In fact SNL did a bang-up job of exposing just how petty and provincial the NYT is. They actually turned the tables on the NYT - exposing THEM as the true small-minded bumpkins - instead of the folks in Alaska.

Was the reference to incest crass? Of course. But don't blame SNL; blame the NYT and left-wing elitist snobbery for even having the "incest" thought in the first place.

Yes it is the issue. The skit could have been created without the incest comment.

We agree that reporters from the NYT are small-minded and bigoted. And the reporters are made out to be fools in the SNL skit. So why add this suggestion of incest? Is it necessary in order to make a reporter seem like a bigger fool? I think not. The writers could have come up with something else. Maybe that Todd Palin has eaten so much moose that he has gone into molting season. Anything ridiculous would do.

There aren't many belly laughs in an SNL skit anyway. So why add this suggestion of incest? My argument isn't against mocking the NYT.
