Rusty Shackleford has posted the results of his and his Jawa team's investigation to determine the source of smears directed toward Sarah Palin. The smears include false allegations that she belonged to a secessionist political party and that she has radical anti-American views. Shackleford's research suggests that a subdivision of one of the largest public relations firms in the world most likely started and promulgated the rumors, that the rumors were spread in a surreptitious manner to avoid exposure and that the firm was paid by outside sources to run the smear campaign. While not conclusive, Shakleford's evidence suggests a link to the Barack Obama campaign.
Shackleford's report is(Hope, Change, & Lies: Orchestrated "Grassroots" Smear Campaigns & the People that Run Them) Glenn Reynolds notes Shackleford's report here, Dan Riehl notes it (here).
Ya know, if the media were interested in getting a big story and not just carrying water for one party, this could be huge (not to mention better for their bottom line).
Oh well.

Is Drudge going to look into this?
Major blogs like Malkin, Instapundit and Hotair already have it on.
National Review has already done an online article on it.
Am sure Ed Morrisey from HotAir who has a direct line to El Rushbo has already emailed him. Next step is Sean Hannity,
Fox News, Wash Times and maybe Drudge.
I think Drudge will post this as he has been more than favorable to Palin this election cycle and in extension McCain.
His last post about McCain’s cars was juxtaposed with a photo of Obama “check my new plane out”.
Thanks for bringing it up. Amazing work by Jawa team!
Just shows how hippie hudlums poisoned the political process and drive by commies are trying to hijack America!
It makes you wonder if the kid in Tennessee was part of something bigger. Maybe Axelrod put this little phfisherman out there with plausible deniability, just to see what he could “catch.”
FReepers, help us get the word out on this! Michelle Malkin has a good synopsis on it: http://michellemalkin.com/2008/09/22/bloggers-sniff-out-anti-palin-astroturf-campaign-and-the-cover-up-begins/
