'First Dude' Todd Palin Illustrates Alaska's Blend of Personal, Public

ANCHORAGE -- Todd Palin grew up as the archetypal Alaskan -- salmon fisherman, champion snowmobiler, North Slope oil worker. But since his wife became governor 20 months ago, his portfolio has broadened: househusband, babysitter, senior adviser, legislative liaison, and -- when the occasion warrants -- enforcer and protector

He stays home with family pretty much, so he organizes that little community quite well, I think. That’s ‘community organizing’, don’t you think?

..............He has supervised renovations to the governor’s mansion and hopscotched by plane back and forth to Juneau to juggle duties as father and “First Dude,” as he has come to be known. And to a degree that has surprised many state government observers, Todd Palin also has become involved in policy, sitting in on his wife’s meetings, traveling on state business and weighing in on some legislative issues. ..........................

Now, substitute Hillary for Todd; wife for husband; and BINGO we have the perfect spouse that was a heartbeat away from power!

If you read the comments, Obamabots liked the article, and McCain supporters hated it.

To me it was as if they were doing their best to dig up dirt on Todd, but failed in the end.

You know I really don’t have a problem when an elected official relies on their spouse as an advisor. Even when the Clintons did it I didn’t care. (Well, I did only because Hillary is just horrendous) But I don’t have a problem with it. Presidents, governors, etc. can use whoever they like as advisors. It’s the actual character and policies of the advisor I care about.

The writers of this have to be democrats. This further proves that the democrat party is the Party Of Hate.

Alec and Karl, the writers, are just jealous. Todd Palin not only has Sarah, he has 5 cute kids, and all the real women in America have a crush on him.

Todd knows how to act like a man, is not afraid of his wife’s abilities, and continues to also have his own identity. What’s not to like?

And when Clinton (the priapic) was President, his wife was given a lot of prominence in the administration.

Don’t I remember something about a failed health-care commission she ran?

I do not know any person who does not talk to their spouse about things a work. If they don’t they don’t have much of a marriage.

I seem to remember that Nancy Reagan had a lot of influence on her hubby.
