Thanks for the smile! I don’t know what it is, but this song pulls me out of the darkest places.
(It also has the added benefit of making my kids think I’m “cool”!)

Feels so Good by Chuck MangioneI have Mangione in the car right now! "Chase Away the Clouds" was my solo in stage band back in college. Friday night the other team's band played "The Horse" and a bunch of us band parents were lovin' it. That's happy music!

Oh man, how could I forget that one? But you're right, they don't do instrumentals like that anymore. (I was born in 1975, btw, and MiM was, yeah, 62-63)
On that topic, there's the song that, when I took up trombone in sixth grade, Mom asked, could I learn it for her, and so I did at one time. Just need to dust my embouchure off for Tommy Dorsey -- "Gettin' Sentimental Over You."
And they're not instrumentals, but much in the same vein, especially with a good trumpet part on each, so I gotta think of:
It's All Right -- Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions (one last call for '63)
Mississippi Mud -- Paul Whiteman/Davenport's own Bix Beiderbecke
The floodgates are open, and I won't be the one to close 'em.
