This afternoon, I mentioned an infamous group of hackers whose Internet bulletin board was the gathering place for those who bragged about and publicized the Sarah Palin private e-mail hacking.

A tech-savvy reader who monitors the hackers’ site e-mailed me a detailed explanation of how it went down, who was responsible, and how someone with a conscience warned a friend of the Palin family of the crime (language warning):

It was something like Lucinda or something that started with an L, I think. Anyway - remember how she stole the Bush debate prep book, photocopied it, but the kink*s or u*s mail place figured it out when she was copying and mailing to Gore’s headquarters? (and then how the DNC swore up and down they didn’t ask her to do it nor did they read it once it was delivered? (cough cough...um, yah...sure)

I haven't watched TV in quite awhile so I haven't seen Greta. Back then she had turned me off. I was surprised and wondered what happened tonight - she seems different in a positive way. So thanks for bringing it up and confirming what I felt - seems she only wanted truth spoken - innocent first, didn't see anything derogatory in emails, can see if she inadvertently used wrong blackberry, she has in the past - and did an excellent job of taking care of Gloria and all her nastiness.

Isn’t it just the strangest coincidence that Obama put out ads about McCain and e-mail this past few days. All the while someone was hacking Sarah’s e-mail account. The smell of Obamarat is pungent.

Slashdotters are saying that the password for the account was the Wasilla zip code - and the password recovery involved her dob. Unsure if those were original settings or if they were reset to that.

I do. I believe she ended up being convicted. I forget what her sentence was, but I don't think it was much. I also remember there was a lot of discussion at the time about the guy running Bush's campaign, a well-known Democrat (I forget his name), and whether he might have been involved in some way.
