As I understand it, the legislature is pretty narrowly Dem. Maybe they can get a few non-partisan Dems (if such exist) to bring a halt to this sham investigation. Palin is great for Alaska, and even a Dem has to be able to see that.
This whole situation is very confusing. The Alaska legislature is heavily Republican. The comittee voted 12-0 to start this investigation. Yes that's right, the 8 Republicans on the committee voted with the 4 Democrats. There are some Republicans that are very angry with her.

Why do these Senators have to go to court to get this investigation stopped? The Republicans have the strong majorities in both chambers. Can't they just call a vote or something? And can the Courts really stop the Legislature from exercising oversight of the executive? I wouldn't think so.

If this goes away soon I would keep an eye open for nasty attacks from these good old boy Republicans. This isn't just a Democratic hatchet job. She has some serious enemies up there.

“This isn’t just a Democratic hatchet job.” Your name wouldn’t be Paul Begala would it?... Of course this is a democrat hatchet job, pure and simple. That it has a few Republicans signed on doesn’t remove it from the hatchet game and you know that but you post this Democrat cover garbage anyway! Wassa madda, don’t like Sarah’s lipstick? ... Put some ice on it, democrat agitprop.

Because if it turns out to be a kangaroo court and is sprung on us too late, there will be no way to challenge it in time and get media coverage.

Obviously. Some Republicans have been very angry with me, too :-). I can well imagine what would happen to my career if I'd taken on the good old boys (and women) club in my own life, forget it, lose lose for me even if it is true.

Seems so. One wonders if she has any true friends apart from her running mate & family. Money and fame do curious things to a person even before they are announced as a VP pick.

I started listening to talk radio again on a limited basis. Caller: blah blah blah opposition troopergate talking points. The host is adamant she has committed no crime. It was a matter of her discretion (we've been there before with Clinton's judges, Bush's judges, never did figure out if travelgate was a violation of civil service regulations).

But if they can stick abuse of power on her or a judge legislating from the bench were to decide it was a crime, what can we do? Could happen. Ping me if any more comes out about it, please. No matter what happens, a lot of people actually involved will live to regret it, and a lot won't. Bearing false witness (some of it has to be false or distorted), last I knew, was a serious sin if you are into that.
