They should be. New Jersey has not gone for a GOP candidate since 1988. Its one of the bluest states in the country and Obama's losing a double digit lead is a stunning development. Can New York be far behind?

[NJ is] one of the bluest states in the country No, not really. Kerry only won NJ 53-46%, by about 230K votes. In 2000 Gore carried it 56-41%, by nearly 500K votes.
Compare that to the 2004 results of New York (+1.3 million vote differential) or RI/MA (60% and 62%, respectively) if you want to see true blue. :)

Can New York be far behind? If states like NJ and NY were to be called for McCain, the after work DemocRAT turnout on the west coast could be seriously depressed. DemocRATS could lose quite a few seats in congress in west coast states.
