GRAND ISLAND
A group of 500 Muslim workers from Grand Island's JBS Swift & Co. plant staged a protest Monday afternoon.
Members of the B shift (3 to 11:30 p.m.) and some members of the morning A shift walked off the job after being denied time to pray during what they said is the holiest of times for them -- Ramadan.
A group of protesting women said they were kicked by a supervisor when they attempted to pray at work.
Asha Abdi said she knelt to pray when the supervisor said, "You can't pray here," kicked her feet and told her to go home.
Another woman, Hawo Mohammed, said she told her production supervisor she needed to go to the bathroom. She attempted to pray quickly in the bathroom until the male supervisor followed her in and told her she was taking too long.

These are the same knuckleheads (Somalis) that shot down our Blackhawks and dragged the bodies of our downed pilots through the streets of Mogadishu.
Yep...we’re the pearls and they’re the swine? ;-)
Simple! Merely begin processing pork!
I guess their dumbass union decided that a walkout was the best thing for the workers after all.
I’ll laugh if they all get fired. Maybe they’ll migrate up to Aspen and can wait on Obama and his crowd.
This is the method of the “religion of peace”. Once they get into a position of authority or influence then the Jihad starts in earnest. Witness Britain with Sharia in some civil matters. That’s but the beginning.
Swift is paying you to work, not pray! If you want to pray do it on your own time!
Fire all 500 of them.
Guess again. You'll see one hell of civil war in Turkey before Turkey turns Islamist. Actually, the Army usually lets a government know that it's time for new elections if the government strays. It's the Army's duty to protect the democratic Republic of Turkey against enemies foreign and domestic. (Sounds familiar -- gee, I hope our Army has got its eye on our Marxist gutter Rat Party, formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party )
Even in a country of Muslims (99+ percent) observant Muslims are a little too pushy.
"[I]n Istanbul, critics of Turkeys government are enraged. 'The government that is in power right now is not in a position to represent Turkeys culture and literature,' said Fusun Akatli, an academic and literary critic in Istanbul, who is one of the leading voices of the boycott movement.
"So far, about 20 authors, some of them well-known in Turkey, have said they will [join the] protest.
"The row reflects the wider clash between Kemalists, who see themselves as heirs to the secular values of Turkeys founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and a rising middle-class of more observant Muslims, sometimes called the 'Anatolian bourgeoisie' and led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister . . .
"Intellectuals such as Ms Akatli say the government of Mr Erdogan wants to turn secular Turkey into an Islamic state. 'This government wants to take Turkey off its track of progress and modernity that the country has been on for the last 80 years,' she said. 'The government wants to change the secular character of the Turkish republic with its model of a so-called moderate Islam.'"
[End quotes]
Erdogan is the leader of the Islamist AKP. Hundreds of thousands of Turks have protested in streets against this threat to their secular democratic Republic of Turkey. Yes, the AKP was elected twice, each time with promises to correct the economy, corruption, and respect Turkey's secular heritage. Now the AKP seems to trying to move toward Islamist rule.
Very well stated!
Now that I know Swift hires muslims to process meats for American consumers...
Now I must find out how many other American food processers hire muslims to prepare our foods...
Nope, can’t prevent them from hiring them. Discrimination laws and the civil rights commissions would crucify them.
But once I discover other companies like Swift, which employs them, I will not be buying their product either.
Is it wrong to wish for a showdown? These people, that we never asked for, are infiltrating our communities in Europe and America and they have no intention of compromising and living quietly, like every other immigrant community. I feel bad, as a descendant of immigrants myself... but why are Muslims such a bunch of pigs?
It’s intrinsic to their religion. The Jihad is a central feature of their belief. They are in dar al-harb here and Europe and need to create and unify dar al-Islam (Muslim community). The separation of mosque and state is not part of Islamic theology. Whereas, if you are a Christian, Christ stated render to Caesar that which is Caesar’s and to God that which is God’s. And the Pauline teaching on respecting the state power, etc. all which laid the foundation of the separation of church and state.
As a graduate student in a large university, I often attended daily Mass in a small chapel in the Divinity School. Imagine my consternation when one day I was told we had to move into the cavernous modern chapel.
It seems we mere Christians were displaced so the Muslims could have the chapel. They could hide the altar cross during their prayer sessions, while the big chapel had a permanent cross that was horribly offensive to them.
Catholics comprised 25% of the student body. I doubt Muslims were even 1% at the time. Yet the squeaky wheel, etc. The administration knew we would accept the change meekly, in a spirit of forgiveness. I wonder what would have happened if the Muslims hadn’t gotten their way.
I hope you don’t take offense and you certainly don’t have to answer...but how long ago did this incident take place.
I’m curious how long this has gone on, with no media attention. Not that there is a great deal now.
I’m guessing this has to do with halal meat. Why else would the Swift plant have hired so many muslims in the first place and why else would they think they had the clout to strike?
Each and every one of them should be fired.
I sent an e-mail of support to the Swift company in Grand Island. We should all do the same:
