She surely did a good job improvising the speech. However, as a former sportscaster, she should be more than familiar with a teleprompter.
I seriously doubt that in a small market, non-network studio they would have had teleprompters for the 2 minute sportscast.
I taught Public Speaking for two years at a business college and I can tell you students did MUCH better when they spent an hour memorizing their speeches than when they had to look at notes or a teleprompter.
