Seems like he would have gotten the message with his last attempt at that same tired old amnesty push. And what about the legal hispanic citizens who are opposed to amnesty? I guess he doesn't want their votes.

Like I said in my first post on this subject: it's a high-risk move. McCain is betting that Conservatives are solidified enough behind him based on the Palin selection to allow him to strike out and maneuver around Obama on this issue.
So while we're talking about OODA loops, we should also be talking about the concept of maneuver warfare applied to political campaigns.
Aside: do you have any figures on the breakout between legal hispanic voters' opinions on immigration reform?
