I think that more and more, the media isn't satisfied with the ability to bring down a President and administration (though it's been stymied over and over again), but they wanted to actually put their own candidate into office.
The press tried over and over to discredit Reagan (though they were forced to say some nice things at his funeral), and the press went apoplectic when they couldn't kick President Bush out of office, nor keep him from being elected for a second term. So this time, they decided that since they know best, they'd pick their own candidate and install him.
The fact that it's not going as well as they expected has them going bonkers.

Exactly. And they gave they shiv to the Democratic Party by elbowing out its strongest candidate in favor of a guy with no experience who looks great on TV. The chickens are coming home to roost. This is the beginning of the end of the MSM!

if what Schwarzeneggar says that Russert (and I'm ill-advisedly trusting my memory here, no time to search out the quote) told him, that he could make him President, apparently in spite of Constitutional requirements, it's clear that the press believes it is the Constitution, although delusionally so. BTW, are you old enough to know or remember what they did to Goldwater 44 years ago?
