Hi ya’ll, I'm finally back. We got our power back on Saturday and our AT&T back an hour ago. I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I hope I never have to go through anything like this again.
Yes it's a strange feeling to have to go backwards into the days before electricity, etc. It didn't bother me that much but you still miss things. Our area was fairly functional after a couple of days with some stores/restaurants open, gas, ice, etc and meals twice daily being provided by the mobile Red Cross vans. If you had a generator and a propane stove/grill for outside use you could do fairly well.
You all got a longer recovery time for electricity than we did but we weren't hit quite as hard I don't believe even though the eye passed just to our west by twenty miles or so.
Enjoy your new found amenities, cooling, refrigeration, tv/internet, etc.
