It’s all about priorities. If someone owns a cell phone and a computer yet doesn’t have enough cash to put gas in their vehicle and wants the taxpayers to pay for that, I have a problem with it.
Your post reminds me of a time I went to court to try to get a traffic fine dropped or reduced. There was a young girl ahead of me that said she couldn't pay her ticket. The judge said he would wipe out the fine if she could prove this was true. He told her though that if he could find a way to see that she could have come up with the money though, she was going to jail. He recommended she take a few minutes in a room off to the side to think about if she had anything she could sell, pawn or borrow. She came back in a bit and paid her fine. I paid mine too:')
