I disagree with selfish. People stayed for reasons that were important to them. Most men will not intentionally put their family in harms way. He made a bad decision but fixed things. Sad they left the puppies though.
Sorry but you won’t convince me. Important to them = selfish. The rescue workers and the family members could have died because their choice. And the puppies did.
