Mother Nature fascinates me and I’ve chased her alot! :^)
about 15 years ago I set out on my bike for about a 90 mile ride. I went along Lake Erie & then to the Cemetery where my dad was buried & had about a 35 miles ride home.
I never had been into TV & didn’t have a clue on weather potential (and no internet yet). It was a glorious summer day of about 75 degrees
when 30 miles from home I decided to take the Emerald Necklace (which is part of the Cleveland metro parks.. a green band of parks circling Cleveland.) It was an area that I had never been thru but had the map blazed in my mind. Stay on road all the way to major street which I could take to my community
at about 6 in afternoon it got pitch black out.. winds picked up.. wild rains began... and continued .. and continued. It was deserted in park & I completely got turned around on the various trails with tree branches falling all over & no cars. No cell phone.
I did not get home until midnight.. was the worst bike ride ever & my first bad storm experience.
I cant help but think of years of past when people like me then had NOT a bit of notice on on coming hurricanes.. and still do in primitive areas of the Caribbean. Just broadsided & no place to evacuate if they did have warning.
