If it’s a rubber czech, it won’t even get dented when the tree hits it in the head.

From another board -— If this doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll try to figure out what I did wrong in copying this over here!
-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—

Go here for images from satellite fly overs

http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/ike/IKE0000.HTM

This is from High Island Area

Select a yellow square (image). When it loads, load that image for a closeup using

http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/ike/29094E4_IKE.HTM

for example
http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/ike/IMAGES/ike_c25883958.htm

then click on the image on the Left
http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/storms/ike/geo-C25883958.jpg
and click again to enlarge.

-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—

Warning -— You can lose yourself for hours! Many browsers to an auto-size thing and by clicking on the image itself, you will get a super big picture about 20”x30” to examine

Welcome home sir. Stay awhile if you can.

++++++++++++
I’d be happy to fry him up some shrimp for dinner :-)

One of my ex co-workers is married to the daughter of the then Secretary of State for Texas and they had dinner with him all the time. They were there with him the night of the 2000 election and he said as the last person was filing out of the room to hear Bush’s acceptance speech, the phone rang. Someone went back in the room and answered it. It was Algore saying “never mind, never mind, I don’t really concede, I changed my mind.” He had to go outside and tell everyone to cancel the acceptance speech and come back to the room. If it was me answering the phone.....

Me: Hello?
Algore: Hello! This is Algore speaking. I changed my mind, I do not concede the election after all.
Me: Would you like fries with that?

After Alicia wiped out route 87 from high island to port aurthur, the state never rebuilt it.

+++++++++++

I suspected as much but didn’t realize it had been wiped out since Alicia. I figured it was wiped out with Rita but guess it was not even driveable when Rita hit. It was very narrow and rode parallel to the beach. You pull off on the south side of the road and you’re in sand. Those are the roads I love. Miles and miles of beach with no crowds.

Geez, has it been 25+ years since I’ve been down that road? Guess so. I remember going in the early 80’s and got my car stuck in the sand. Alicia was Aug/83. How times flies.

The tree and branch aren’t that big to me but hubby says it’s a bigger job than I think...and he’s getting a plan together...I told him what all y’all told me. The wheels in his brain started turning I guess.

I just like to boss him around even if I don’t know what I’m talking about. Luckily he can decipher when to ignore me and when to actually listen, hehhehe... especially when it comes to big electronic sharp things.

I’m guessing it’s John Martin Road which is 1-2 exits west of Garth.

Yeah, I got to pay some serious attention to my trees.

On this little-bitty city lot, about 2/3rds of them need to go.

But I am only willing to trim/cut the ones I can reach, and the fee for the rest is going to hurt. 1/4 acre lot, I got five trees over a hundered feet.

Old house.

Idiot “City arborist” came by one day, oohing and aahing over how we have the oldest, tallest oak in the City.

I was going to cut it down when she left, but my wife was convinced I would flatten the house.

Probably better I refrained.

Plus, I needed a bigger chain saw.

Around here, tree removal isn’t terribly expensive. It’s the stump grinding that costs a pretty penny.
