Why did they ever agree to this?????

It was a blunder.

McCain apparently still thinks he’s the “maverick” who is adored by the Democrat “mainstream” news mice. And so, thinking she’ll get a fair shake, he sends Sarah Palin into an interview with that third-string p.o.s. Charlie Gibson (who got his job only because one guy died and the next guy got blown up).

Where the hell are McCain’s handlers? They needed to tell the Republican candidate that he has NO friends in that world. The Democrat "mainstream" news media is the Obama world. There was absolutely no possible upside to sending Palin into that interview. Hopefully McCain will grow a brain and in the future tell those scumbags in the Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms to go play in the street. "No Palin and no McCain for you. We will not offer ourselves up as props for your smear campaign."

Next McCain needs to arrange numerous moderated real-time, on-line interviews with established internet news and opinion blogs and forums. Like Free Republic, for example. McCain and Palin should do interviews with Michael Medved and Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck and Mark Levin, Dennis Prager and Bill Bennett, Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham. Except for radio and TV ads, stick with talk radio and the internet.

Why in God’s name waste time with Democrat scumbags like Gibson? He and his ilk are precisely the kind of scum the McCain campaign needs to navigate AROUND, so they can take their message directly to the people. You know... like Reagan did.

Un-friggin-real....

Oh I don’t think it hurt them. Actually just demonstrates the liberal agenda at play.
She did great under the circumstances.

I totally disagree. With all Palin’s had thrown at her in the last two weeks, what has happened to her poll numbers, they continue to climb. I think McCain’s figured that out, and he was under pressure to let her do an interview, so she did one. He knows the more they beat up on her, the more women move to his side. It’s a great strategy and Charlie Gibson played right into their hands.

American may be many things, but they know a bully when they see one, and they will stand up for the victim of a bully every time. Sarah Palin has been bullied and yet not bloodied by the MSM, and what is America doing, they’re standing behind her and her fame is spreading.

Plus, it’s gotta be doing a head trip on Biden knowing he has to debate her in a few weeks, LOL.

It was a blunder.

I wouldn't call it the best move but I wouldn't call it a blunder. For better or worse many people saw these interviews and of several points where Sarah actually got to explain ("Troopergate", "Banning Books") Palin was clear, concise and convincing. I believe many viewers that may be on the fence, election-wise, said to themselves, "I read this about 'Troopergate' and had this negative impression and Palin was very convincing in her defense. I wonder what other accusations are actually trumped up or being misreported?"

Overall Gibson was clearly making presumptive statements and asking loaded questions and his demeanor came across as such. When he said Sarah had hired all the commissioners that were investigating her and Sarah kindly retorted that actually her predecessor had hired all the commissioners it was a direct slap to Gibson and his team of "researchers". Again many viewers said to themselves, "If Gibson and ABC were so completely wrong on a very basic fact like that what else were they misinformed about when forming/posing their questions."

I believe that McCain/Palin choices will be more strategic, Sarah will do the round of Sunday talk shows wiht increasing frequency where the live/live taping element allows more extensive answers and little to no editing. And if more shows like the View are done in the remaining weeks the theory is that the media is clearly doing cheap shots on Palin and many people have come to recognise that and will respect her for taking the hits.
