Gibson asked about the "Bush Doctrine" and she didn't seem quite sure what it was... No, she let him define it. She was damned smart not to say yes or no to something as vague as "the Bush Doctrine", which at this point in history would mean many different things to many different people.

Yes, by making Charlie define it “in his view” she was able to restate her view and let the people decide how they feel about it.
She thinks we should attack if intelligence shows us in imminent danger. I agree.

Exactly. What are you supposed to do? Oppose the position of the sitting president of your own party? Even if Bush IS wrong about his methods of "spreading democracry" this just isn't done. And going into the minutiae of foreign policy by saying "well i agree with this but not that in a 20 minute interview is too wonkish. That's something Obama would do... having it both ways

I was about to post your answer.
As much as Bush has been lambasted in the media, there is NO WAY I would have assumed what he meant by the “Bush Doctrine”. That could have meant any number of things.
I don’t know exactly how she handled it (haven’t seen the interview yet), but that is NOT that big a deal. It’s better to say “I didn’t know exactly what you meant” or “That term slipped my mind” rather than cahrge off on a wrong answer or down a verbal trap path.

Agreed, I think she did very well. I don’t think people are used to seeing her in a one on one environment. Obviously she can’t be the same person she was addressing 40 milliion people, while talking to Charlie. IMO

Bingo... none of these people could have done as well. Ronnie is looking down on her and is proud of how she handled this interview... poised... confident.... assured... firm and decisive... everything that barry is NOT!
