so the fed gov will tamper with every industry and thus have the excuse to nationalize everything. We saw this with health care and now the freddie/fannie.

Jonah Goldberg in his book “Liberal Fascists” had it right, GM is a health care provider that happens to make cars.

The near-hostility toward American manufacturing among conservatives, is the one issue which could lose the election.

The irony is, those factories armed our soldiers, for every war ever fought.

What are we doing to that “arsenal of democracy”?...

Sending it, bolt, machine and worker -— to COMMUNISTS.

I have not verified it, but I have seen in several places and Rush mentioned it also that the car is a diesel which meets European standards but not US for clean air.

I didn’t believe that, but it is apparently true.

Bottom line: US Auto Diesels must meet emissions regs while burning dirty, low grade diesel, which isn’t even sold in most places anymore.

why do they have to get something? I’m tired of states that hold the country hostage for more taxpayer $$$ just like Iowa and their ethanol subsidies

If they go through with this plan I will *never* consider buying a car from detroit.

That is correct.

Stop licking around the edges and just get it done.

Let's have the pain all at once rather than incrementally.

There in lies the key.

Under a bankrupcy plan, the union contracts could be jetesoned thus saving the american industry.

Of course Pelosi wants to save the unions so they can save GM the way unions saved Eastern Airlines.

I’m saying, and this is the one thing that really bugs me about the economic direction Bush and too many globalists in America are taking things:

Formerly American companies are being bought in leveraged buyouts.

The buyouts need to be paid for ... so the workers are fired, the manufacturing plant is sent to China, and the same goods once made here by Americans, are imported from China and sold at Walmart.

Forever gone. Enriching our future enemies. Weakening America.

Yes. That’s what I’m saying.

That sounds like one of those downright stupid regulations that could only have come from California.

Case in point (disclaimer: this may no longer be true, but it was many years ago when I lived in CA): California smog regulations required certain equipment to be installed on vehicles, regardless of whether or not the vehicle could meet the emissions standards without them. There were cars that met the emissions regs without the equipment, but the law required the equipment to be installed anyway! It makes you wonder what the REAL goal of the regulations really was.

In other words, you drive an import.

Great, contributing to the loss of American jobs.

Congratulations.
