Pine trees snap in the middle. I had a pine tree snap in the middle during Fran and was lucky enough for the top half to miss both my and my neighbor's houses.

well I was trying to console Orange at least until you prophets of doom came along...sheesh.... so much for looking at the bright side eh... LOL
We had an ice storm once in E TX and the worst part was the pine trees breaking and pulling down all the power lines. It was a mess.
